Piranhas are awesome fish though, especially if you have a good sized monster or shoal. There are a few places who are solely importing Piranhas into the UK now aswell so some of the rarer ones that never used to get over here are.

i had a marine tank about 12 months ago, at the moment iv got
2 starfishes
2 skunk shrimp
1 (until recently 2) clown fish
2 emerald crabs
5 hermit crabs
4 other fish which i dont know the names of
aload of corals n sponges and some stuff that glows in the dark

they are take a hell of alot of effort to maintain, but are more entertaining to watch than most of the stuff on TV at the minute!

Basically im gonna loose my tropical tank and move into the marine game.

Now I know its hard but what would you suggest to do from here ?

Also water changes, is it a matter of getting the water / salt right etc etc ?

what size is your tank? my main tank is 62 litres and the sump another 34 litres. with marine, the larger the tank, the easier it is to maintain. the hardest part is getting the water right in the first place.

i do a 10-20% water change about every 10 days. what size is your tank? my main tank is 62 litres and the sump another 34 litres. with marine, the larger the tank, the easier it is to maintain. also, was you looking at only keeping fish or going for a reef type?

Cosmo, very impressive. Had to sell my setup a while back when I had to move home from uni. Had loads of different tanks and fish setups. All types of Tropicals - Community, Discus, Cichlids, etc. Marine and Brackish. But by FAR the best was the.....

PIRAHNA setup I had. Had three red bellies which ended up being around 6inch in size each. Called Frankie, Benny and Vinnie Absolutely awesome fish.

Kept them with a pair of Texan Cichlids around 4inch in size and an imported Egyptian Nile Pufferfish around 6inch in size. Oh and a rare 8inch midnight Catfish.

The whole Pirahna story about them going for you or nipping you or being frantic killers is a big myth. Generally during cleaning them out every other day they would play dead in the corners of the tank... the pussies

But as Cosmo said, drop a Goldfish in and they just get brutal. If anything the Pufferfish was ALOT nastier than the Pirahnas. Now he was savage.

Liking King Kong. Will have to go for something similar when I get back into it mate. You got any contact info or any good Pirahna importers/suppliers you could pass on to me mate? Cheers, Kyle.

www.piranha-hut.co.uk and www.piranha-shop.co.uk can get hold of virtually any kind of Piranha. And piranha-fury.com is an excellent forum on them.

Ditch... think you should donate your Goldfish to Cosmo in the name of training King Kong.

We have two goldfish in a Spongebob Squarepants starter tank!

Looking into buying a decent tank with stand etc. to put them in the living room, as they are in the kitchen/dining room area at the moment.
