But, are you talking about a firewall on your computer (i.e. windows firewall) or the firewall on your router?
I'm guessing you mean your router so you'll have to go into the configuration mode.
Mine is a BT router and I have to go to http://home to edit my settings

You don't actually need to disable it, once in the configuration, if it's a descent firewall it'll have options like "allow messenger", "allow aol messenger", etc

Not meaning to be patronising, but are you sure the wireless connection is active?
Windows firewall can be closed from control panel...
Any idea what wireless router it is? It'd make it easier for us to help you out.
