the only worry is the format it encodes the video into.
With a normal Mini Dv camera such as a Canon 830i for example, the video is stored to tape and then captured to a computer in an uncompressed format (.avi), edited and the compressed into the format of your choice
With that camera, i think it encodes the video as it records it. And only certin programs can edit those types of films.
I think Premiere has problems with Mpeg videos (speaking from experience)

yeah...but i think some video editing programs are made to edit pre-compressed videos.
Sony Vegas is a good example of this.

personally i would butch on ebay for a 2nd hand 1CCD MiniDV cams - ive seen the little sony handycams (like DCR-TRV33, DCR-PC5E) go for about 80-120 quid all in, which isnt too shabby and there alright, picture quality isnt brilliant, but you wont do with anything that has a single CCD!
one of the things that worries me with that samsung is the storage, isnt exactly huge - although im no expert at mpeg compression, i know with dv compression (used on DVcam, MiniDV etc) a gig is about 8mins of footage
