Browsing through eBay yesterday, I came across a 2002 M3 convertable with 52k, on a 1 day listing with a £4000 buy it now price.
I figured £40000 is far too high for a buy it now, so that would eliminate a typo, thus only leaving the listing to be a con.
The guy had reasonable feedback, and wasn't a new user, so I thought I'd make an enquiry just out of interest;

My enquiry to the seller
Hi, Is there some sort of catch with your auction? Is the car actually for sale for £4000, or is there another payment to be made on top of that price?
If not, then what condition is the car in? Does it include all the docs i.e. V5?
It seems too good to be true, so thought I might ask

Regards,
Stuart.

Here is a copy of the email I received back this morning;

Reply from the seller
Hello,

Thank you for contacting me about the 2002 BMW M3 with 52000 miles.
The car is in perfect conditions ,no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage,no engine problems.The interior is in like new condition and has never been smoked in.
The car is registered in United Kingdom and it has clear title.I have legal document by which I can transfer the title to your name.The car is still UK registered so you will not have to pay any custom taxes.
The problem is that I had to move with my family in Portugal where I got a new job as a civil engineer.I brought the car here with me with the intention of driving it but when I found out about the very high import duties and all the restrictions regarding registration and emissions tests here I've changed my mind and I've decided to sell the vehicle.I want to sell it in UK because is still registered there.
The amount you will have to pay in order to own this vehicle is £4,000 with shipping costs included!I want to take this opportunity to assure you that this deal is 100% legitimate,the financial part of this deal will be manage by a third party,in this way both of us will be protected.They will keep the payment until you receive the item and test it.
So if you really want it please give me an email as soon as possible.

Thank you,
Carol

I thought about that, but can't be arsed quite frankly..

He's taken the photo's from someone elses listing, as I recognised them from a few days back.

I was wrong about the one day listing I think, as its still in the main view, but the actual listing has now been removed.

Anyway, like others have said, eBay is now shite.

My password for eBay is strong.. Just because he has my email address, it won't change that.

Can't see why changing the password would make a difference

actually, i had some problem like that before...with a Windows XP pro...the seller had his account hacked in and somebody else took control and selling stuff..I contacted him and he replied...the listing got removed and a few days later MY account got hacked in...I did a live chat on ebay and they told me that it would have been a good idea changing my passwords following the first auction for the XP...

I also really dont understand why and how but I still keep this advice
