rite now that i have been talked out of putting a turbo on my car i have decided to look at throttle bodie kits. (
websites of kits and prices would help)
i take it that taper are better than multi point?
can people that have throttle bodies put up the spec of there cars and how reliable it has been.
thanks

tapered throttle body basicly means that the body gets narrower from the inlet to the butterfly. most bodies are tapered. there is also 2 different tyes of manifold, parralell:
and tapered:
with the x16xe the tapered inlet is a lot better. when i fitted the tapered inlet i gained about 10 bhp just because the x16xe inlet ports sit at 30 degrees (same as the tapered manifold) and far less restrictive.

sbd claim 160bhp out of the c16xe (completely standard except conrod bolts) using their taper throttle body kit and correct exhaust system, the whole engine, head, cams ect remain standard.

they claim 164 bhp from their basic kit. I know 3 people that have fitted it to a c16xe, the usual power it gives is anything from 140 to 150 bhp. there was a big thread about it on mig a while back, it turned out that the 164 figure was a bit of an optimistic one. Noble motorsport has mapped a few of these kits now and they only usually see around 150ish.

well ive had that spec for about 8 months or so now. only problem has been the tps (throttle position switch) it went a bit mad and was overfuelling fitted a new one and ive never had any problem whatseover. infact its far more reliable than most standard engines due to it being totally adjustable. once you are familiar with the setup (fit it youself is easiest) you can adjust the timing, fuelling, rev limit, fuel cut, practically everything yourself.

kms stuff is usually pretty good
I know they make direct to head bodies for 106 gti. Also looks like they bundle standalone management with it! that alone is worth 500-600 quid

that kit from balance motorsport looks good exept the smallest they do is the 45mm body. 40 is ideal for a 1.6.
but then you will need a loom, inlet and fuel pressure regulator which will set you back a further:
loom £200
air temp sensor: £30
manifold: £180
REGULATOR: £80
so a total of about £1700.
plus it uses a seperate module for ignition. all in 1 ecu's are far easier.

I already have the throttle bodies and inlet manifold! So say i went and bought the rest of the gear its all going to be good. I dont want mad spec like broster, but i want car to have a decent kick etc....
