1 property = 1 council tax bill, no matter how many people live there.

poll tax was different, then every person at the property had to pay. if you are not working then claim benefits then you will be able to claim council tax benefit and have nothing to pay but if your mum has already paid a bill for the property just ring the office and tell them the situation.

As someone has already mentioned maybe she is hinting about you helping her with the bills?

Sorry if you have already answered this but has your mum been paying the council tax?

so let me get this right, you rent the flat with your mum and sister.

Your not on the dole, but you have no job?
your mum is currently not working for what ever health reason.

Im slightly confused as to whos making/asking you to pay council tax.. either your mum or the council people?

If your mums name is down as the tennant and she is not working then you should get the tax benifit.
If your name is on there, you should be paying for the bill, whether you got a job or not.

Theres no excuses for not having a job these days.

True, however in Wales if you are a single occupant you get a 25% discount. If there are 2+ of you then its done on the house, not on the people living in it.

It is quite confusing, surely she should speak to her mum and find out whether she has been paying it? If not someone will have to pay it.
If the mum has paid then no worries, but she will only know when she speaks to her mum, not corsasport

if her mum is asking her to pay a contribution, i cant see whats wrong with that?

she's effectively living at home, and not paying her way, so quite rightly i say.

but i dont think we know the whole situation.

oh i see.

So your mum HAS to pay the council tax, although im sure she is entitled to single occupency discount.

So it is your mother asking you for money?

i think i can say this with confidence, that you need to get off your ass and get a job then? your mum has every right to ask your for money if your living there and currently not contributing?

Get off my ass and get a job, what part of just off incapacity do you not get? there is no need to be so nasty when trying to give adivce. as Edd said, there are reason I dont work.

I think you should go back to the start and re read everything I have wrote.

I got a final demand in from the Council Office, saying I need to pay Council Tax, which I have never done before and dont belive im entitled to pay for, that is where the argument between me and my mother came from.

I have always payed Digs when I have money coming in.

but your not 'incapacity' now?

i can see your point now though.
what exactly are you being billed for? have you read the document properly?
is it your current property? and is it the full amount of a years worth?
