My 3 main choices atm are:
Pioneer DEH-P88RS

Alpine DVA - 9861Ri

i personally like the look of the alpine the least, i have always had alpines in the past but im being drawn to other makes now.
I think either the pioneer or the JVC look better than the alpine unit.
Pros of the 3 are:
Pioneer - Best SQ unit, lots of X-over and EQ features, Very smart look.
JVC - Powerful 70 x 4 onboard amp, Screen, plays from SD cards.
Alpine - Plays DVD's, and um...
Thats my reasoning behind the 3, im tempted by the pioneer, im just not sure!
Currently i have the JVC KD-SH909R that dobber fitted its a fine unit i just fancy a change!!
Any advice on which one?

Pioneer or JVC in my opinion, i think the JVC would edge it personally because of the screen but the pioneer is very smart looking.
I wouldnt have the alpine because i think you can get more features for the same money from other brands, alpine have always seem over priced to me...
Ive currently got the jvc kd-g512 very happy with it considering an equal priced alpine hasnt got as many features..

you going to be changing all speakers, or just replacing the HU?

Just the HU for now, maybe some JL goodness in the futre if i decide i really need it.

IMO.. go for the Pionner.
the JVC unit - im put off by the chavv looking screen.
And Alpine seem to be spending al there time on Ipod gear now, not really concentrating on there other gear.. well thats my opinion...
unless you have an Ipod?

Agreed. I'd be tempted to go with the Pioneer one too. The JVC one probably is a good h/u but there's better looking JVC units for that money.
