Has anybody actually tested the difference in cables?

need to buy a cable so that sound from a laptop goes into a mixer (on my decks)

My view is that unless you have the very best of equipment a 5 pound cable and a 500 pound cable won't show any difference.
The sound coming out of your laptop won't be anything special to begin so the cable you posted will be more than adequate.
I'd wait for someone like Dom to come on though because iirc he's right into the audio side of things and might be able to give you a more experienced opinion.

may upgrade my phono cables from my decks as well......
