for Corsa B there are 2 types. C16XE and X16XE. C16XE is best for performance, but it is marginal. expect a slight better increase in tuning potential with the C16XE also. however it will be difficult to find a decent one unless you want to spunk money away on a new one...

X16XEL was fitted to the Astra mk3/mk4 IIRC. C16XEL no such thing. X16XEL produced 100bhp, 6 less than the X16XE

personally i wuoldnt bother with cams in these engines until you have throttle bodies. i looked into it in a big way a while back, and decided not to bother, i got 155 bhp without them in my x16xe
basicly, these engines have very small clearance beetween the valves and pistons. to get the cams set up perfectly, u will have to use vernier pulleys and spend loads on setting up. and for a relitavely small gain (3-4 bhp). to get the clearance you need for larger gains, you will have to pocket the pistons to allow a larger lift. check out this link:

C16XE also has a higher compression ratio, causing peak power and torque to be developed 500rpm lower in the band. also lacks EGR, SAP, and has larger inlet valves

EGR is still there, SAP is not.

C16 still has the EGR ports cast in the head, so you can't excape them

not so much blocked off, just no EGR valves on the outside, but the EGR system is still cast into the head...
ports are larger though

c16xe head is a MUCH better design than the x16xe. not much difference unless you are tuning them to run high bhp figures tho.
