Damm it, if he hadn't scored a hat-trick I would have got MOM

Hi Guys,

Great game las night but we didn't get what we deserved!

Only the woodwork saved the Champs from a defeat last night.

Marcel scored the opening goal after an exchange of passes with Dave Henley. He then scored the second from a quick free kick from 15yds out.

Unfortunately, this was the queue for "Monty" to score is first at the other end. Just before the halftime whistle, the Champs scored again after going close several times.

Only some great saves from Ollie kept us in the game after half time as the Champs put the pressure on. Slowly we reasserted our selves & had several chances to regain the lead. Marcel, Jason & Alan (defender's finishing!) went very close.

Monty finally got the better of a strectched defence to slot two quick goals (the second going around the on rushing Ollie, was sublime).

With time running out Gary played a great ball down the right for Marcel to run onto in behind the defence & finish clinically for his hat-trick!

The final whistle blew just after. What a game!

Players - Rating out of 10

Ollie Crowe 9
Alan Parkhurst 7
Dave Henley 6
Jason Barrett 7
Gary King 7
Paul Haywood 3 (Wins this week's "rabbit in headlights" award for giving the ball away!)
Marcel Hacker 10
Mick Shean Not Used (Rested due to Injury)

Please would you confirm availability for next weeks game at 9.30pm vs The Boyz

Next week we will be trialing a diamond formation - 1 Def, 2 Mid & 1 Att

i guess you play 5-a-side in a league?

"Next week we will be trialing a diamond formation - 1 Def, 2 Mid & 1 Att" - in 5-a-side playing in positions wont get you any where

Yeah, proper 5-a-side league with FA refs and all sorts

With regards to the formation, we noticed that at all times you need one player in our own half that never ventures into the opponents half just to delay runs etc.

We haven't got a natrual defender in our team which is concerning, luckily they have such a good keeper they get away with it most of the time

You DEFFO need a holding player in 5 a side... I always do that (and in indoors footy)!

Yes, we discovered this lastnight, we marked very well, tracked their runs but were caught on the break because we never had that one man in the middle in our half.

At least we played well, if we don't finnish in the top 2 of our league we will be seriously disapointed.

sounds like it was a good game!

Played footy last night but there was 14 of us 7 a side on a small pitch not even the size of 5 a side, was a bit crowded.

Still managed to curl a shot right into the top right corner with my left foot though Players kept on smashing the ball over the fence and it ended 3-2 usually its something like 14-11 :lo:

I hate over crowded pitches, especially as a keeper as everyone stands in your way and 9 times out of 10 the ball gets deflected and you are constantly re-adjusting your body, not good for worn out muscles

Its not sandy sand, like tiny little stones, might be to soak up rain actually.

We play 5-a-side for fun in work, trying to get a league sorted but loads of players have left work

I prefer just playing for fun for the moment, gets quite heated anyway

We play for fun on Tuesdays

Tonight infact, although we have been playing together for a year and thought we might as well add some purpose to it

All ATP's (older style) are sand covered.. new ones have those fake blades of grass with rubber balls everywhere (tiny but they get everywhere!)
