Every few minutes the cursur will stop in its place when i move it and sometimes the computer makes that beeping noise like when you press loads of buttons on the keyboard at once. The other day I would move my mouse and all of a sudden the start bar will pop up, I'd move the mouse again and the little right-click menu would pop up on desktop. This would happen really quickly so loads of stuff would be flashing on the screen. It's not the mouse at fault so any ideas what is wrong?
cheers

its temperamental, earlier it wouldnt move at all and had to restart it. The other day when the problem started happening it wouldnt move no matter what and had to use various keyboard shortcuts and arrows to use the computer.

you can get optical mice for about £3 online now, might be worth upgrading anyway and seeing if that fixes your problem at the same time. I dont know why they still make rollerball ones

If its PS2, check that theres no bent pins or broekn pins, failing that just get a new one, i would get a "wired" optical, i dont like wireless mice.

Well ive done it now. Unplugged it to clean it out properly - took it apart and got rid of all the crap inside. Put it back together as it was, plugged it in and the cursor wont move at all now. Have to keep pressing tab to get through to the website.

I dont have a USB one, just tried one with a parallel?? port or something and its working fine now. Must be a dodgy ps/2 port:boogle:
