I checked out the back of my car tonight though the headlights of my mate's and noticed a piece of metal hanging down underneath....... it turns out it was the metal piece that attaches to the brake compensator spring and another piece(which i have lost somewhere on the road)have snapped off!!! the spring is not attached to anything now except the bit on the axle........ anyone know what i need to do?!

Don't worry too much. There is not a lot of braking on the rear anyway.
Replace it, and if the car is lowered you need to adjust it.

Undo the bolt that holds the spring tight and slacken it off.

What i did was slacken it off and then adjust it back up, taking it for a check each time.
