No, the X12SZ is the same as a C12NZ but it has an EGR aswell, but its still a 1.2 8v. Also has slightly higher compression. Has the same bhp (but at slightly lower revs) and a fraction more torque.

Theres also an X14SZ which is basicly the same as above (the stuff with power is a touch different). Its a C14NZ with an EGR system.

I think so, dont all the 16v engines (from that time era at least) end in XE (excluding the turbos of course)?

Could be, the engine code is printed on the block. Its on the distributor side. If you look down the front of the block you'll see a vertical edge and the engine number is stamped onto that. The first of part of will say what your engine code is.
