Omega started screeching/hissing/whining with the engine running the other day, diagnosed as a cambelt roller/tensioner...
guy picked it up thismornin at 8:30 to start work on it... car STILL not back...
Gona go over at 8 to see whats what, but surely it cant take this long to do a full cambelt kit change & such on an X25XE in the omega??
Also hungry too as was gona go get something from tesco or somewhere when the car comes back
also starting to think its something more than what was originally diagnosed...

ok, been across...
new belt & idlers etc are on, still got to put in the other bits, so tomorrow about 10:30...
apparently im lucky tho, when he took the old belt off (which was a recent change) one of the rollers just fell to pieces in his hand!!! foooooook he even showed it me as was gona come across in like half an hour to see me
cars done about 110k now, timing belt recorded at 95k replacement when the stemseals were done, but the rollers seem to be as old as the car itself!

aye, i drove it 30 miles from liverpool to northwich with the noise after it started in blackpool the night before last... so about 100 miles or so total...
id prefer this bill compared to a replacement engine any day

My dad had a Vectra V6 (P reg, when it was new), a roller collapsed on the motorway.
disasterous. the car was given a replacement engine, and sold on very quickly.
