believe not... you can get your std ecu re-mapped. had been looking into this and for around £200 they will set up std ecu (using new eprom) set up to the spec of your engine on the rolling road with whatever rev limit you want...

Jamsport can do it for you, though it's a long way away. There are lots of companys out there who will be able to do a new EPROM for your car. You could get a piggyback like a Unichip too. They all need to be mapped on a rolling road to get the best performance. You are looking at around £200 to £500 to have it done, but that will mean your limiter will be raised and your fueling and timing will be adjusted to suit your mods too.

Thats news to me, I would be shocked if a Unichip couldn't raise the limiter!

what ed said.
my ecu was brosters, Jamsport did it, by fitting a mappable eeprom chip, then mapping it to suit.
i think it cost mark about £500 or so.
superchip will only raise the rev limit, not set the fuelling up to match your mods.
its worth spending the extra, it makes a hell of a lot of difference

as far as I know, unichip cant raise the lilit as its a piggyback ecu, not an ecu remap.
a piggyback ecu takes the signa;s from the sensors on the engine and alter them so that the ecu is tricked into adjusting fuelling and timing. the ecu rev limit is determined by crank speed so I cant see how a piggyback ecu will be able to change crank speed signals specificaly for rev limit setting without upsetting other parameters.
I think you can get a unit from dastek to raise the limit though.

right, a unichip cannot raise the rev limit... if i remember correctly dastek do a seperate module so that the rev-limit can be raised... callum lik ei said there is a place down cornwall not more than 100miles away, that when i spoke to them at weston last year he was going to do mine for £200 or £250, that was raised limiter to what i want, and re-mapped on the rolling road... i'll try and find the flier with his number.... chris
