i honestly haven't got a clue what i'm doing tbh, all i do is wash it with bodywor shampoo of the Autoglym variety then rub the bumper restorer stuff on the arches etc, then alittle car glass polish on the windows to get it looking alittle more shiny. but after that i'm clueless

Would you rather be more like some people in this thread who start telling people random polishing or detailing facts that wern't even asked about in order to make yourself feel good instead?
Reason most people don't know everything about it is because it's not that important (imo of course)

i've only been reading into restoring paintwork, mines 11yrs old now.
came across detailing which seems a bit fanatical, more of a show n shine type thing

Sounds about the right level of attention given the age and fact the car is a modern classic

My routine;
Chemical Guys wash and wax using wash mitt.
Claybar.
Scratch X.
Clearkote Vanilla Moose Wax handglaze.
Megs NXT wax.
AG tyre dressing.
For drying I highly recommend the Poorboys Waffle Weave drying towel.

I've just washed the car using the mitt, felt so weird at first, then I realised it was so much easier than a sponge getting in to the awkward places.
Pic because I'm a slag:
