If you have MCE2005 you can stream pretty much anything using Transcode 360 I've got a few HD avi files and the play bob on like this. I believe you can burn wmv files to a DVD or External Hard Drive and you can play them that way as well.
The PS3 has no chance against the 360

it's not Media centre you install, it's something else but the name escapes me at the moment.
check on the Microsoft website, it'll be on there. It's just a program that lets you view files and folders on the xbox
