Other day drivin to work, my Water pump shaft sheared off for some un known reason, taking the cambelt with it and i think you all know what happened!! I was luky i was sat in traffic any faster and i think it would be a new engine jobby. Took the head off the other day, discovered 6 Bent exahust valves and 2 Bent Inlet valves. Sent the head for skimming today, hopefully tonight ill be re seating all 16 valves. So the total cost to me is £110 for a stupid water pump failure. So guys, make sure your water pumps are ready for the winter cos you dont wanna be in my shoes, it sucks!!

cambelt failure in the small XE engines is devestating regardless if its idling or sitting at 3k RPM

the reason it sheared off was probably due to the fact it hasnt been changed.

Yeah, i did the water pump and cambelt when i bought the car about 2 years back now!!!
And yeah, tis true the damage is bad, replacing 8 valves is costly, im just lucky my pistons have survived with no damage.!
