...I have no idea how auto-dimming mirros work, so here goes.
My first theory is that the glass is like light reacting specs or sunglasses you can buy. In this respect, is it possbile to get auto-dimming glass for the standard, electric & heated Corsa mirros which will retro-fit instead of buying completely new mirrors?
I only say this because driving home from Uni tonight on the A1 and I got really really bad glare - rearview mirror was fine as I flicked it down.

I have seen these as optional extras on new cars though. Just wondered if you could get the glass for any car?!

if there new then they will probably be a funny setup
id imagine they would need a seperate loom splicing into the corsa one, probably a light sensor in the middle of the dash, then they only activate when the side lights are on
can imagine them being a complete arse to fit!

I'll forget it then - just move the mirrors so it blinds rear approaching traffic atleast my eyes will be ok. It is strange, never sufferent in my girlfriends Mk4 Fiesta, Corsa's seem to be really bad!

the mirrors in the fiesta probably have a slight tint to them anyway
tbh the blue-tinged glass on aftermarket m3 mirrors is good to stop glare, plus there better quality mirror too compared to the OE item

My moms jus got a new merc and they work by having a light sensor behind the mirror and once it senses too much light it then moves a disc behind the mirror to dim it i thinks

Good question this since everyone seems to be getting those xenon bulbs....the amount of times I've had to click my rear view mirror up to reduce glare is no-ones business!

I'll be looking into that....nothing worse than re-enacting Close Encounters in your car whilst pulled up at lights
