I have got a bit saved up in my account, and i am wanting to put £400 each month from my salary into a account which will make alot of interest.
Do any of you guys have a savings account? or even shares? etc? if so what have you done and where have you gone??
i am wanting to save for a year to get a nice depoist for a house.

you could put it into a 6 month notice account which will give higher interest than a normal bank account, but you dont have immediate access to it if needed. Think you need 5k or 10k depending on the bank and account.
Other than that Ive got an e-savings account on Natwest. Think the rate is something like 4.3% so not too bad considering you have immediate access to the money.
Could also look into an ISA but there is a yearly limit on the amount you can put in it.

Hi Andy
Good on ya, i would get a standing order taken from your bank account and put it into a seperate ISA account - i know your not going to make much intrests but at least it's tax free

aliance and leicester i think it is are doing a 10% interest account at the moment .You can only pay in 250 a month but you can put the other 150 into a different savings account. One catch is that you need you current account with them and need to pay in £1000 or more a month.

£3k is the limit on an ISA.
That works on tax year as well - Apr - Apr.

Not just 3k, you can get bigger ones...
£3,000 in a Mini Cash ISA
£4,000 in a Mini Stocks and Shares ISA
£7,000 in a Maxi ISA

tracker funds are the best for 5yrs+ if not then use Cash and equity ISA's
