My mates doing physics at uni have just started doing experiments with these about chaos theory etc, i found a simulator online and been playin with it for ages, strangely hypnotic The geeks among you may also enjoy playing with it for a bit

i take it the "cups" have holes in the bottom? due to the water filling up then going down again?

Yup. They've been playing with actual ones in their lab sessions, sounds more like fun than physics

I wonder if the water spilling out sideways is considered a spoilt result or part of the test. I had mine spinning quite fast
