the USB ports have stopped working on a PC here.
Have tried resetting bios, reinstalling the USB drivers but no difference.
It recognises that something is plugged into the usb ports (flashdisk, printer etc) but wont say what they are, but it recognises you've disconnected them when you unbplug them. any suggestions?

Has there been something plugged in thats drawn too much current and damaged the usb controller on the board.
Quite a common fault iirc.

hey if you figure out what it is could you u2u me and let me know, i have a friend in the same situation, thought it was a software conflict but obviously not as when i formatted it for him it done the exact same.. also got a brand new USB 2.0 card and it gave the same errors about the peace of hardware malfunctioning.. i put it down to the motherboards main USB conflicting after somthing has done some damage, he hadnt plugged anything in the wrong way either. its quite strange, i just dont have the parts to test pc's anymore as i dont work as a computer engineer anymore. gave up working in the shop about 2 years ago.
good luck mate
