We keep getting those calls where you pick up and can hear them for a couple of seconds then when you say "hello" they answer.
Am I right with the following:
They call EVERYONE on a list on a computer to check your in when you answer then call back at a later date knowing your in at that time of day?.
They have a computer dial everyones number even if you're ex-directory?
We can't report tham to the Telephone Preference list as we cannot get their number on 1471
They're a local company and have rung 7 times in the past 4 days.
What can we do?

I have an idea.
Keep them talking for aaaaaages giving false details and asking repetitive questions then at the end just walk away and don't hang up. they won't be able to call another line if you're still on it

You don't need to know the number. Just sign up for the TPS. I did last year and have had no calls since.

Can they view the list of people who called me?
Will they tell me what the company is called?

Nope. The company recieves a list from the TPS of the numbers that they can't call.
If you do get a call say TPS and they hang up, instead of you hanging up on them. Great

A computer is used to ring multiple numbers and when the first one is answered and someone speaks it disconnects the others that are being rung and your call is put through to a operator.
You can pick up your phone, not say anything and press ###### (I think it is) and it should confuse the machine, it's what I used to do, I've also signed up to the TPS.
