out of the 2 it would be the civic
What about ibiza, leon golf, S3 - all these would be above the two mentioned for me

It is an internet forum for discussion after all don't forget
Admittedly the CTR thing gets boring but no one can appreciate they are a good car whether you like the look, the drive the image or whatever makes you buy a car
People on here can be very narrow minded when it comes to cars
If we all liked the same cars it would be boring but no way is the CTR a bad car

on book figures i think the astra gsi is not that fast, 2litre turbo and its same to 60mph as the clio 172 with 2 litre non turbo engine and i would imagine the clio handles beta.......people seem to say clios handle very well and dont hear anyone one comment either way on handling of the gsi!!
end of the day both very good cars, i was just slightly dissapointed when i found out the specs of the astra, thought it was faster!!
BE MORE ORIGIONAL AND GET ZAFFY GSI TURBO AND u will only be getting to 60mph 0.2 of a second after the astra gsi!!! with little tuning u could be faster then standard astra and ctr, now that would be fun!!!

0-60 is a stupid way of testing performance, its mid range rolling situations that the GSi is good. Nobody is going to be able to launch a GSi/172 perfectly at the traffic light grand prix so it will be down to the driver.

the thread is starting to go like the other one
The CTR i gear is a quick car providing yourin the correct gear as its not a flexible engine
therefore through gears 30 to 70 i would say the CTR would be faster than the GSI

i have to agree i own a gsi and a 2.0 corsa and one of my friends owns a civic r, he is faster of the mark but once we hit 70mph ish i can start to edge past him and at 110mph type speed in overboost i start to pull a ok gap, even my 2.0 corsa is faster than my astra gsi to 60 but i would'nt change astra nice car love it ive had it mapped etc now and i can eat my m8's type r now,
astra gsi is like ppl have said much better when its rolling, 4th gear pulls very strong upto 135mph, once you map a gsi u hit 60 in very high 5 secs anyway
