wen my car is in any gear you can move the gearstick side ways about 1/4 - 1/2 an inch.how can i tighten this up

I had this, tightened the linkage under the car... problem solved

If its a corsa c you may need a new linkage.

had the same thing so i got a short shift linkage and it make the gearbox feel tighter and feels a bit more race car!!
