We had:
Plain doors, skirting board, dado rail, door frame, ceiling and plaster walls.
We had to:
Primer all walls, knot the doors, primer the ceiling, use filler on chips/cracks, Caulk the corners of walls/walls to door frame.
Then:
Undercoat x2 EVERYTHING (Rubbing down inbetween), Roller the ceiling, cut-in all edges. Then top coat Eggshell the upper wall, Gloss the lower wall, Gloss the Skirt/Dado/Door frame, Eggshell the ceiling. Rub the door down like no tomorrow and then paint blue.
We ended up with:
I. Am. Chuffed!
