Hi if you modded a corsa sport 1.6 or GSI engine to around 150bhp with whatever it would need as in dbilas / mantzel inlet / tb's / cams / remaped ecu etc which is roughly what a standard 2ltr red top is in bhp? which would be quicker? the corsa sport or corsa 2ltr? im guessing the 1.6 would not have the same torque as the 2ltr but it would be a lighter engine possibly meaning faster acceleration plus better handling?

first 3 gears would be similar match but i would say the 2litre torque would have an advantage once into 4th and 5th.

goin from what ive read on various forums (which makes me an engine professional doncha know)
the 2.0 would handle like absolute dog poo on a track cos it weighs so much more so the 1.6 would have it on a track
really i dont know at all

realistically, indeed that is true
then taking into account driver skill it really isnt an easy debate, if the same person drove both cars round a track, again it depends what track etc.
its the age old argument of no proof vs heresay (not the vboa approved shit pop band)

agreed. i think that the 2.0 would pull away ever so slightly when it get close to 4th and 5th.

all down to who is driving. when my mate had a 2 litre corsa and I had a 1.6, mantzel, mapped etc... was running around 150 bhp there wasnt much in it in a straight line up to 90ish then the 2 litre would pull better due to gearing and more torque
with my current spec (tb's 180bhp) it pulls away from 2 litre corsas pretty easily, especially if theres a bends. also having proper suspension and brakes makes a massive difference.

1.6 will always lack the mid range of the 2.0

id rather have a 1.6 like ures than a 2.0 to be honest, but i love the sound of throttle bodies so im biased

running same bhp is his question, not same torque blah blah
Muppetsport is right, 2ltr will pull away due to torque.

i would say round twisty stuff the 1.6, having owned both my 1.6 actually handled very well where as the 2.0 would understeer also the 1.6 feels better balanced.
having the redtop is fun but driving fast round the twisty stuff made my rear feel so light
