I jacked the car up before to change oil and filter after topped up with some oil turn engine on the build up the pressure and the drivers side wheel was going around on its own where as the pasenger side didnt move i wasnt in gear or anything?
Anyone know why it did that?

yea its something to do with if one wheel got more grip obviously you wouldnt want both spinning etc
it would be wrong if it didnt do it lol

did u check the oil level with the dipstick whilst jacked up?

yeh school boy error how much oil is ideal in litres haynes manual told me 3.5 thats what i put in

Yeah, 3.5 litres. Should never check oil on a hill, always flat ground. Both the Vauxhall manual and Haynes says to check when the engine is at operating temperature, but leave it 5 mins after turning the engine off for the oil to drain into the sump.
To be safe, I check mine when cold and warm

used carlube triple r 10w 40 semi syntetic and a champion g102 oil filter

tbh you cant do a lot of damage by unfilling/overfilling a bit on these engines in the short term. Beware though, if you overfill a turbo diesel enough then the turbo can pick up the oil and run the engine on it until you run out of oil, even if you turn the ignition off.

the left driveshaft is shorter than the right which is why it's always the one that wheelspins, maybe it's something to do with that? lol
