Just bin out to top my window screen washer up as it was empty and thought ooo ill check the oil and this is what i found
water level hasnt moved and oil level is fine. So dont know why it looks like that. Oh well its going into the garage next week for mot service and repairs so ill get him to look at it then. Anyone got any ideas what it may be??

also just doing very short journeys and not letting the engine warm up proper

not all the time no. youve got 2 or 3 breathers that go onto the back of the rocker cover and they can get blocked,the old hcs fords suffered terrible with it.take the rocker cover off,clean all the crap out,take each pipe off and if possible use an airline(but stay out the way!) and gently blow through the pipes.when they are clean replace and keep an eye on the filler cap.check the water before you do anything tho and make sure its not mayonaisee(sp).if it is then its the head gasket
