Sony DSLR-A100K... with 2gb Memory, and a 18-70mm Lens...
Bloody amazing! Its still scaring me reading through the manual, all the options and possibilities! Its immense!
Going London anyway in a few days (seeing Jimmy Carr on the Thursday night, then London Friday night) so will see how good this thing is and get some pictures taken!
It excites me... Ooooooh!!

is that the sony alpha 100 or whatever its called? what made you go for that one? Ive been looking recently and everyone seems to think the Canon EOS 400D is the only one worth looking at.

yes its the Alpha 100...
just reading lots of reviews online, general opinion was it was a very good build and had plenty of decent features.
Also from reading, the canon one seems to be 'too plasticy' in overall build, and the grip isnt that great. Plus the pack lens for the 400D isnt really the best in terms of bundled lenses, the sony one was better.

The canon still takes the best pictures last time I looked into it.
I have a 350d and I can understand where the plasticy comments come from but taking better pictures was a higher priority (400d and sony weren't out when I got mine)

400d uses the 30d sensor does it not??
overall though they both seem pretty even in terms of quality from the samples I've seen online.
but as i've been told, its the lens really which makes the picture, and as I couldnt afford a decent lens aswell as the pack, I was also looking at the better bundled offers...
ok so the canon does have a wider range, but its not like ill be buying another lens for a while as i simply cant afford to!

The kit lens on the canon does fine tbh, as with most kit lenses afaik.
Its not as good as a lens that cost double what the camera cost but unless you are pixel peeping there's not much difference.
A lot of people blame kit lenses for their sub par photography skills.
My sub par photography skills are just my sub par photography skills

OK here is 'some' pics (sorry about the size, I'm just linking from my photobucket)...
All in we took about 643pics, and the battery didnt go below 2 bars Quality was on Highest (10.2MP, Fine) but saved as JPEG... Resized down though as I dont have a premium account on photobucket...
I had NO tripod, standard lense, and basically was messing about with Exposure, WB, Color, etc...
Then playing with WB settings on this next one...
AND I still dont really know what I'm doing with this camera there are just far to many options on it
Still, was fun!!
