I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a phone exchange?

We have just outgrown our internal phone exchange. Its also very old.
We have a few digital lines, and a few analogue lines.
Basically, its going to cost us a very large amount of money to expand on an awful exchange.

I was wondering if anyone knew for any 'cost effective' phone exchanges, or good recommendations?
Surely they must do a phone exchange with a high number of attachable phone lines, but only a certain number can dial out based on how many lines we have? (3x isdn lines).

I have considered VoIP, but from what ive heard, people are getting alot of relability depending on traffic on the line, even dedicated lines.

Suggestions?

I was going to say VoIP but it seems you have ruled that out, I know of a small to medium sized company that use it and I dont think they have any problems?

You might be right.
We have approx 30 phone users.

I think my trouble is, i dont know enough about VOIP, so its probably unfair to rule it out

For VIOP you need to use a service that supports QoS really otherwise it will be crap.

Most people just think they can use it on any old DSL service , and yes it may work , but when you run a business it doesnt look to good.

Have you thought about going wireless? Speak to Vodafone (or even Orange etc. ) about enterprise accounts... mobiles all round at cheap costs... its very cost effective - a lot more so than you would think!!!!
