Got a new 19" Widescreen Monitor last night. HP one
It's very nice and all, but the resoloution isn't right. On the box it says that the best resoloution is something like 1420x900 at 60Hz.
My computer hasn't got that setting (I find of expected it to magically appear) And everything looks a little stretched.
Does anyone know how I can get the right resoloution setting for the screen?
Ta!

Upgrade your graphics card drivers. Newer ones should support a different resolution, including widescreen.

When I got my monitor (it's also a 19" Widescreen HP), the monitor drivers gave that option and not the (newest) graphics drivers. If you have an nVidia card though, you can add custom resolutions. I assume ATI cards are the same.

I have nVidia, I've updated drivers on the Screen and card, but still doesn't come up with the setting I need.
How do I set up these custom settings?

You could try something like powerstrip that allows you to create custom resolutions, might work. But to be honest, it's a bit dated, might be worth spending a little on a graphics card than using the intergrated jobby.

That's how to do it using the nVidia Control Panel.
