was driving at 70mph today and the temp gauge was over 100

broke down later due to battery problems but when the aa guy was putting in a temporary earth wire (from battery to inlet) he notice that a cable cover was under the inlet when the inlet was bolted down

took it out and bolted the inlet again and the temp didnt go above 93 on the way home.

could it have been the small break in the inlet that was causing the heat problems? ie letting cool air out instead of keeping engine cool?
