is it really thousands of pounds?

Im quite keen to get project server (maybe 2007) up and running on the server, but it requires sharepoint services v3 (i will have to upgrade from 2) and sql server 2000 or newer.
As a smallish company (<35 pcs) its not something i can really justify is it?

Suggestions/Comments?

Can get enterprise edition for about 18k.

Get an msdn subscription, although then you can only technically use it for testing purposes only.
