Whoever maintains your web server (web host) should be able to provide simple access and error logs for your site. Easily done with Apache.

After pasting the code it counts visitors and gathers loads of information about them......easy to do.

Not sure how your site works but if there is one file that is used on every single page (like a page design file) put it in there......

For example - http://www.aeroarchive.co.uk has one single page layout file and draws other pages in as required.

Otherwise you will have to put the code in every page on your site = pain in the arse.

As for where you put it, it goes right at the bottom of the file - just before the </body></html> tags....

You probably already are logging accesses, you just need to analyse this data. Ask your host.

Alternatively you can do it by acquiring additional information like Google Analytics does.
