tried to go on xbox live a minute ago and it wouldnt let me.so i ran a test and its come up with ip address failed,now i have been on all the help sites i can find done what they have said and still nothing,bare in mind im not the cleverest person on a pc can anyone help me cheers
oh and no "you should have bought a ps3" comments

forgot to mention... im not using a router just a wired speedtouch modem.think thats right
running ethernet cable from tower to the 360

its been fine for months and i have just gone to play it and it says ip address failed i havnt touched any settings or anything brett where do i find internet sharing on my pc? sorry im not very good with pc's

Start > Settings > Network Connections
Right click on the network connection and select properties then on the option box select advanced tab, then there's an option box with "internet connection sharing". Should be ticked

ok it wasnt ticked,so ticked that box then disconected internet,conected again still no joy

Dunno then, is windows firewall enabled? Try turning that off.

yet another problem my conection keeps cutting off.was playing on tdu half way through a instant challenge and the conection went it seems to be doing it more and more often now

what is your NAT status on the 360?
Go to the system blade and then network settings I think it is... do the test and see what results it displays next to NAT.
If it's Strict or Moderate this could be why you're losing the connection. Ideally it should say OPEN. If it says anything else you will need to open some ports.
