I want to get a desktop PC for gaming but havent a clue what spec to get. I've spoke to a few people and one says this graphics card the other says another thing and the same for processors. What would you guys recommend and does anyone on here build them?
Cheers

XPS Dell - build to your budget. Either way it'd be good for gaming.

£400 should see an OK system, but not going to be an amazing gaming PC TBH.

dont buy a dell for gaming, they cost way too much.
Build your own, will be much cheaper and have the parts that matter to you

True - I built my own PC up when I was 17 for about £830 (already had a monitor). If it was a Dell, it would have been £1500 I reckon.

If you come on saying you don't know whether you need a fast proc or gcard for gaming, and your pals don't seem to know any better dell and places like that are probably a good bet.

dell arent always expensive but if you want something particular they are, you can get a cheap system for around 300 with monitor and decent memory, not going to be that good for gaming,
if you want a gaming machine a decent graphics card will cost over £100
a quick hard drive always help, like some of the sata ones have 16mb cache where as the dell ones normally have between 2-8 even in the xps range its only 8mb
