Yes its a nova you guessed.

Well it all started week before last when i acquired this.

Has cost me what i shall get for the shell so basically the engine was free.

So had to decide what to do with the engine, advertise it on here, keep it until i had one in at the workshop with the belt gone or something a little more interesting.

So I bought this last week off ebay.

Was bought blind but doesnt seem too bad.

Passenger lock has been punched in

Slam panel is posh rotten

but otherwise doesnt look too bad

rear arches

It currently has a 1.0ltr paper weight for an engine

So that will be coming out as well as the interior.

So plans are to drop the x16xel in there then find a decent manifold for it and strip it out.

Still have the corsa but am waiting on parts and funds for it. Corsa won't be getting stripped now but will be getting calibra leather!

Well despite a long day, left for heathrow at 2 this morning, I had to make an hour to get started so i did!

Got the rear seats and rear quarter trims out. Was shocked at home clean the boot floor is.

just a bit of rust coming through in this rear corner

Then moved onto the fronts. Managed to get the front part of the carpet but didnt have anything with me to undo the seatbelts so didnt take the centre piece out.

Will get round tomorrow night after work with a larger socket and get the rest of the carpet out and all the rear belts. Then cut the sound deadening away from under the dash.

Had a look at the lock today and it isn't quite as bad as i thought looks like it had had some tape over it with a bit of tar and glue remover on it and a new barrell shouldnt be to bad.

Wow
Well after a year locked away I decided it was time i started fitting some of the parts i have lying around to the nova in the hope that I can get it out on track before the end of the year.

So fetched it round tonight to make a start on the suspension.
So today was the first time i have had it on a ramp and i'm pleased to say it very solid underneath. Never been welded and doesnt need any. (underneath anyway obviously it needs attention to slam and arches.)
The exhaust however is pretty grim, brakes are siezed on, and the radiator decided to spring a leak.

So started by fitting some fresh suspension, bilsteins with 30mm springs, and some 15" steels with 195 45 tyres.

Looks to sit very high atm still

Next up was to fit a euro rear cluster that turned up on ebay a couple of weeks ago.

That completed decided to swap the steering wheel, stalks (for corsa ones) and the clocks.

Getting the steering wheel off was a nightmare though. First time I have ever had to use a puller on a vauxhall so had to fabricate one first. Because of which I didnt get as far as changing the clocks.

Before

after

So hopefully one night next week will be working late finishing off inside. Changing the clocks, different seats, harnesses and rear strut brace.
After that will be looking at replacing the brake system, and then hopefully my loom will be finished and can get the engine in.
