I have just fitted a mdf into my mates 1.2 corsa as it is a didnt have one before and when i turned it on the temp bit just has two lines on it  do i need to add a sensor on sumwhere?? or does it run through the ecu?

the sensor for it is behind the front bumper, usually plugged into the upright brace in the middle of the slam panel

I had the same thing...the sensor was about £6 from vauxhall and was behind the lower grill on the front bumper (pre 97 bumper)....in the middle. You should be able to see/feel the bracket behind there

Mine does the same, either bust sensor or the wiring for the MDF is bust.
Iv heard about re-soldering fixes the problem

If the rest of the display works fine then i would assume its the sensor as this is a really common fault on them
