yes im bored and this is going to sound stupid but i just want to know if it would be possible.

could you set up an ecu for a c20let so that if you flicked a switch it could be restricted powerwise to say 50bhp and then flick it off so its back to its top bhp would be utterly pointless but i just wanted to know if it was possible.

sorry for wasting your time
matt

Im sure if you had a boost controller you could limit the amount of boost and therefore horse power in each gear

What i don't understand is why more manufacturers don't make a point of doing this on more cars.

Surely having the option to have a map for economy, or power depending on what type of driving your doing would be widely welcomed .

With lots of cars having near identical specs apart form the mapping, it's not like it'd be hard to implement either!

how would insuarance work on them? because you could buy it but keep it restricted while driving normally then derestrict it when on tracks etc. (id assume they would just make you pay based on its full bhp)

Yeah it'd be insured as normal, but you have the option to press the button to de-tune it and save money on fuel. IMO would make sense on cars like the Astra VXR, where the engine is similar to the 170 brake, and 200 brake turbo, but is obviously heavier on fuel .

Loads of cars have sports options. It's not as simple as fitting a switch to the ECU as the rest of the car needs to be able to handle the increase in power. Hence why you only see it on top performance cars...
