hi ive just put some 15" alloys on my car with low profiles and have left lyk a foot gap inbetween the tyre and arch and now looks like a monster truck. My problem is how much would be recomended to lower it. I also do alot of fishing and need quite a bit of clearence on those uneven fishing banks.

40mm lowering springs would do the job fine.

But you will most probably compromise ride quality.
Before you go ahead buying anything or fitting anything, make sure your insurance company will cover you.
You can get lowering springs off eBay fairly cheap.
If you've got a gap like you've described, you should get away with a -50mm drop.

-50mm I'd say if the size of the gap is as big as you say it is.
If it doesn't have a big kit on it i.e. standard spec, then it won't be that low to the ground for your fishing.
I asked some advice when I was going to lower my car -40mm. I often carry a car full of people and/or stuff, so would a drop of -40mm mean that the wheels will rub, and I was told it wouldn't. I guess with the lower springs, they are also stiffer

I was also recommended to go equal front and rear. You only need to chop and change when you have a different engine up front that the car doesn't normally take etc.
I have a 12v up front, which is obviously pretty light, so I said -50mm front, -40mm rear, and was told to stay -40mm all round.
