If you're using an after-market (i.e Non Vauxhall) head unit, you'll notice the centre section of the MFD is usualy blank. This can be changed to always display the date.
Firstly look at the original Vauxhall stereo loom. You'll see the standard ISO type blocks, and the top section holds the additional Vauxhall connections.
In this block is a grey wire with a red stripe. Cut this and the date should appear on the MFD.

If your radio stations do not save when you have installed your after market head unit, you need to swap over the Red and Yellow wires.

Headunit on with no Ignition:
First Picture
Second Picture
The first picture shows the wiring as supplied by pioneer, switched live and permanent live both in use.
The second picture shows that the spare wire from the permanent live (car side) has been connected to the switched live (radio side).
This means there is no connection between ignition and radio so radio will work without ignition turned on.
