no, without a map they tend to be flat until 5000rpm then shoot up to the limiter. so you get decent bhp gain but only over a tiny part of the rev range.

This is why the Lexmaul tends to be better, as you get a chunk below 4k, then a 500rpm flat spot, then power from 4500 to the rev limiter.
Mine had a 7200rpm rev limit with my remap and made smooth power all the way to it.

in that case theres nothing wrong with the 6ft inlet, its just the upper manifold design........

The 6 foot inlet keeps the torque down in the rev range, which you need.

the long placcy pipe is also very restrictive, at one point is reduces its bore by about 1/2.

why dont you - get a x16xe and get a new inlet manifold and just fit your currant throttle bodies.........

warren I have considered using my current tb's and I might well do but not to start with as I dont want to spend great amounts of money on management and mapping to begin with.
after reading the commens on here, i'm thinking that to if i go down the 1.6 route, i will be getting a decent exhaust system and manifold, lexmaul or mantzel inlet, with my viper, then decide whether or not to go down the cams route before getting it remapped, as I dont want to get a remap then again after changing cams obviously!

exactly people get too caught up in bhp figures, a car which makes less bhp but has a nice wide spread will have better drivability and be faster in real world situations

But a mantzel moves the throttle body to a much better location where the lexmaul leaves it where it is.
I'd rather the mantzel

Big inlet = good high rpm power
Too big an inlet = air doesn't flow fast enough at low rpm
Similar to throttle body trumpet length i beleive?

you dont need aftermarket management tho, just put the inlet chamber back on and you can use the 1600 managment. All you would need is a 16v inlet manifold for your throttle bodies

yes in theory but it doenst run right with standard management, my current setup is too rich and has been since day 1 i would love to utilize my throttle bodies, maybe i will in the future but at the moment just don't have the money to get them running correctly
