You really need to make the changes in Safe Mode.

Also get Hijackthis and post up a log.

i had a similar problem with mine, spyware removers didnt get rid, of it, was a pain but i managed to get rid of it in the end, cant remember what i did though

Done a Defender check in safe mode and it never found anything.

I tried downloading Hijackthis but McAfee said it was a virus and removed it

switch your antivirus off, download hijackthis, run it and post a log and some one will tell you what you need to delete.
