If I were to buy a Sky box off of ebay for a few quid and then get it hooked up, would I have to have a contract with Sky, or would I be able to just pay monthly?

You would be able to phone up sky and get a card sent out to use in the box, i'm not sure if you need to enter a 12 month contract or not though.

I take it its a flat or somewhere you can't get a dish fitted?

If its not just get the lowest package and get a free box and installation.

Yes you have to have a contract to get a sky card and usually you're tied into a 12month contract (cheaper with the box connected to a phone line) but sky also do a package where you pay a one of fee (around the £150 mark) and you get a range of channels.

It's for a flat, there is already a sky dish there. I am just not too keen on getting into a 12 month contract as it's something like £40 a month right?

It seemed quite cheap, until I reaslised that you don't get movies with the basic packages. ALl I watch really is Discovery, Sky One and the music channels. That's 3 options so you have to do the 4 option package for £18 a month and then adding movies on top takes it up loads

Oh, just realised I had unlimited broadband and phone calls too in that and it came to £49 a month Guess it's not too bad then if you are getting everything in one?

Phone is £5 a month and broadband is £10 a month...

If all your want is freeview then I am pretty sure that you can call up sky and they will either give you a card or charge you a small amount £20/30 for it.

If you want Sky Subscription channels you will have to enter into a 12 month subscription

Cut off the broadband and and free calls all day. Get a six mix and free evening and weekend calls for £21 a month. That's what i've got.

You can add broadband for another £5 if u require it. I'm stuck in a 12 month contract with BT at the moment but will soon be changing over to Sky
