I just use shampoo but never let it get so dirty so brake dust is ground in..
Sure wheel cleaners will not be too abrasive...I did get told not to use anything acid based on my polished lip

Do not use autosol or metal polish on the rims as they will proabably be a laquered rim.
you need to remove all you can with hot soapy water and then polish the rim with normal car paint polish. then wax them with a few coats of car paint wax. next time you come to clean them after that they should wipe clean.
that is what i did with my old rh cups

each to thier own i suppose, but just bear in mind that autosol is designed for use on bare metals, and im pretty sure is says on the box not to use on laquered surfaces.
