My 1.4 16v sport's headgasket went so took it to the garage that i bought it from as i have 3 months warranty for parts and labour with them.
So now i am getting that fixed for free, the head is being skimmed and to make me even happier they decided that the piston rings were worn, so they have ordered new piston rings as well.
Makes me very happy but now i have to wait till wednesday!!!
can i ask what affect the worn piston rings would have had on the car, and what will the new ones do, will they make it feel better to drive??
cheers

you were lucky when it went! I suppose there would be less compression? and maybe burning oil, not sure to be honest.

lucky it happened in the first 3 months
good of the garage to fix it as well would of thought most of them would try to find away round fixing it or stalling until the 3 months have passed

yea i no i was lucky, thats why i am happy and also grateful to the garage for fixing it!!
they said it was burning oil quite a bit. before i gave it to the garage i felt it was sometimes underpower, could this be because of the piston rings

Sounds like a very good, honest garage, to put right the head gasket AND fix other jobs that you didn't even complain about

Make sure you run it in for 500 miles with new rings.
Wont drive any different TBH, just wont smoke.

Don't go over 3k. then do a oil/filter change at 500 miles
