no not my....
but this:
its hanging down from the front of my bumper and with having my first car for only a week (98 1.4 corsa sport) i haven't a clue what it is. my mate says it might b the air temp sensor which i doubt for some reason. anyone know?

its the air temp sensor that runs the temp on the mfd,
it should be clipped to the front panel just behind the bumper

thanks mate for that, was just a wee bit worried. doesnt matter now that the temp doesnt display on my dash anyway lol

Have you changed it then? The owner before you maybe of been messing with it trying to get it to work.

Nope not yet as I didnt know what it was for definate till today.
My mate has also had 3 corsas 2 L reg's and a R reg. Both L reg's had the temp display on his dash and never worked.
Could it be just a simple matter of replacing it? If so how much are they roughly?

Found one on ebay for a fiver with £2.50 P+P so I'll replace it anyway.

They are cheap from vauxhall anyway, but let us know if it solves the problem

i would get your temperature gauge working
mine broke and next thing i knew, the headgasket went, cost 750 quid to fix lots of problems

thats a mfd temp gauge it should not have anything to do with the engine temperature gauge or head gaskets blowing !

ah right, i must be thinking about another temp sensor then. and yes the temp sensor caused my head gasket to blow as the engine ran up to 100 degrees a lot of the time and was not coming up on the gauge

That's why you've got --.-c I bet.
Just pinch a new sensor from a scrappy. Easy Fix!

Yeah I bet the sensor either says --.-c or a way out reading like 50.5c thats what mine was doing. just whack another sensor on.
