looking at buying this car only it mentions something about the egr valve, in the advert the seller wrote the following:

"one thing i should mention is the engine management light does come on now and again now i have had this problem before and all it will need is the egr valve cleaning which when dirty or clogged up causes the fault in the management system to occur nothing serious"

is this a big deal an screw up the engine or we talking a minor problem thats quick an easy to sort?

any help peeps, cheers.

assumption is the mother of all fuck ups. lots of things it could be if he hasnt had it checked. if it is the egr then be prepaired to get very pissed off

na man I wouldn't worry soo much my EGR Valve is a bit bunged up as well... the worst you will experience is the engine running lumpy/ will struggle to start...?

ffirst ones bit worrying but if it only starts bit dodgy thas aok

im guessing s214_UPP the engine managment light comes on an you take notice?

I wudnt worry mate!! mines been playing up for last few months! no problems just annoying!! found out today that the bugga who had the car last bodged it up and put it in wrong place!! tsch!! they cudnt believe it at the garage!
