I was just wondering how you could incorporate a 3rd bucket Jake, how would you go about it? How many buckets do you use?

for the 3 bucket method you use 4 buckets. I cant remember what use each of them has but iirc one of them is good for a gentlemans wash

 suppose you could wash your hands in the 3rd one, save your skin and the paint having contact and causing a reaction.

i think you've got it there. Put the 5th bucket over your head to prevent breathing on the paintwork - scary thought.

any1 tried the drive by method.. you drive down the road and 10 lads throw the content of 10 buckets at your car, 1 soap, 1 wax, 1 polish, water, you get the drift.. by far the fastest method especialy when you blow dry it down the m6 afterwards

i tried it with them but bad aim, they ended up wetting the road infront of car causing me to spin, not nice.

this reminds me of that thread that got posted up a little while ago about some tit who was 'detailing' his new astra vxr! I dont see the advantage of using the two bucket method because after a while the water in the second bucket you are rinsing the sponge in becomes dirty, which defeats the object completely. I find if you just give the car a good rinse first, you get the majority of the dirt off anyway.

I spray the car with a cleaner and then rinse it off which loosens the dirt. I then clean the wheels first. Then I use the 2 bucked method with a grit guard. I have a washmitt for the top of the car and then another for the bottom of the car and bits which get more dirt on. Then rinse it off and pat dry with drying towels.
Then I would clay bar and polish, seal, wax etc... after that.

I thought with two bucket method you had warm soapy water in first with one sponge and in the other clean cold water with another sponge, wipe soap on, the clean/rinse off straight away with clean water!?
I use pressures washer tbh, and yu cant polish a turd IMO
